February is American Heart Month!

According to the CDC, cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, collectively costs American peeps $312.6 billion each year. About 715,000 of us have heart attacks each year! Yikes, right?!

Doesn't have to affect you and yours, though. Take action! Here are some tips to help keep your ticker going strong:

✅ Eat a healthy diet including plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein and clean water. Be sure to monitor your portion sizes, too.

✅ Exercise regularly. The American Heart Association recommends a minimum of 30 minutes, 5x/week of moderate exercise OR a vigorous 25-minute sweat-fest at least 3x/week, AND moderate to high intensity muscle-strengthening activity at least 2x/week. Beginners, remember that even 10 minutes a day can do wonders. Just move!

✅ Don't smoke and limit/avoid alcohol use.

✅ Monitor your blood pressure and take your prescribed cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure meds.

✅ Get your cholesterol checked at least once every 5 years.

You only get one body. If you don't take care of it, where will you live?
